11 Baked Pasta Dishes to Keep You Warm & Cozy Until Next Spring

As the weather gradually cools off, it’s high time to reacquaint yourself with your old friend the oven and serve up some baked pasta. It’s comfort food at its finest that can also fit the bill of make-ahead and big batch, certainly welcome features in this day and age.

But the main reason to go al forno is because it tastes so good. A blast of heat coaxes even more flavor out of the sauce while the pasta gets delightfully crispy at the edges. Then there’s the bubbly browned cheese that streeeeeches and ooooozes, seemingly unable to decide whether it wants to stay in the baking dish, go on your plate, or split the difference.

So, get a pot of water boiling, and fire up the oven for some of our favorite baked pasta recipes.

Baked Spaghetti with Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Italian sausage, peppers, and onions is a perennial sandwich filling, but the combo is equally satisfying when baked with spaghetti. A simple marinara, melty mozzarella, and dollops of sweet ricotta help seal the deal. Get our Baked Spaghetti with Sausage, Peppers, and Onions recipe.

Baked Ziti with Creamy Tomato Sauce

This list would be incomplete without the classic ziti. A touch of cream adds welcome richness to your standard tomato sauce. Get our Baked Ziti with Creamy Tomato Sauce recipe.

Baked Ziti Alfredo

Here’s an adult spin on kid-friendly mac & cheese that will have the whole family clamoring for seconds. The little ones may scarf it down so fast that they won’t even notice the presence of broccoli florets. (Peas, kale, or spinach are equally tasty veggie sneak attacks). Toss in rotisserie chicken for a boost of protein. Get our Baked Ziti Alfredo recipe.

Baked Radicchio and Mozzarella Pasta

Radicchio and pasta, who knew? A trip to the oven tones down the chicory’s bitterness while amping up the sweetness which complements the justifiably copious top coat of salty mozzarella and parmesan. Get our Baked Radicchio and Mozzarella Pasta recipe.

Lasagna alla Bolognese

Decadent béchamel sauce and a meaty Bolognese ragu offer layer after layer of hearty pleasure in this upscale lasagna. Make ahead and then enjoy leftovers for days. Get our Lasagna alla Bolognese recipe.

Creamy Blue Cheese Gnocchi

Get our Creamy Blue Cheese Gnocchi recipe.

Baked Spaghetti

In a stockpot, combine the tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, onions, peppers, garlic, parsley, seasoning mixtures, sugar and bay leaves. Bring to a boil over high heat, and then reduce the heat and let simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Crumble the ground beef in a large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until fully cooked, with no pink color remaining. Drain the fat from the meat, and then add the ground beef to the stockpot. Simmer for 20 more minutes.

Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Cover the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan with sauce. Add a layer of pasta and then a little less than 1/2 of each cheese repeat the layers, ending with the sauce. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Top the casserole with the remaining cheese, return it to the oven, and continue to cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5 more minutes. Cut into squares before serving.

Get your favorite red sauce ready

Let the arguments commence, meat or no meat? There's plenty of discussion in the food world about whether spaghetti (the dish, not the noodle) should include meat or just a classic tomato marinara.

This recipe calls for a simple, quick and easy marinara. You can make your own really easily, or you can buy a jar of your favorite sauce.

If you're a fan of Bolognese style sauces, aka meat sauces, then go for it! About half a pound is all you need. Simply brown it, drain off any excess grease, and combine it with your sauce of choice. The recipe doesn't change otherwise!

Baked Spaghetti Recipe

I made my Baked Spaghetti recipe on Instagram the other day. My followers went NUTS! Everyday since, I’ve been receiving messages requesting that I share it. Of course, I have to give my brats what they want! Here’s my Baked Spaghetti!

My Meat Sauce is the star of this recipe! I worked really hard at creating it. It blends so well with the other components of this dish. And the best part, it only takes 30 mins to develop the flavor!

I don’t eat pork. So, I use turkey Italian sausage. Can’t tell the difference! Cream cheese AND sour cream in SPAGHETTI. Absolutely! Give it a chance. It makes the spaghetti EXTRA creamy. And don’t worry. You won’t taste it at all.

I don’t believe in dry spaghetti. Therefore, I made sure that we’ll have enough sauce to covered the noodles adequately. Since, this is a casserole, sometimes the pasta can dry out during the baking process. Not with this recipe!

Don’t forget to top it with the fresh basil!

Look how creamy this dish is! An easy and delicious weeknight meal. Add a salad and some buttery garlic bread and dinner is served!
