Cooking Barazek-Arabic Cookies:

Step 1: prepare the dough.

First of all, to prepare our overseas cookies, we need to soften the butter. To do this, just take it out of the refrigerator and leave it at room temperature for 10 - 15 minutes, during which time the dairy product will acquire the desired soft consistency. In the meantime, thaw the butter, let’s take care of the flour. Set a sieve over any convenient container and pour the flour into pieces. So she will be freed from lumps of flour and other inclusions, as well as saturated with oxygen and become more loose. This will greatly facilitate the preparation of the dough and make our pastries more tender and tasty. So, after we have sifted 3 cups, add the baking powder with salt to the flour. Using a tablespoon, mix the dry ingredients and set the bowl aside. Then we transfer the softened butter to the blender bowl, add sugar and turn on the appliance. Mix them together until all sugar crystals are completely dissolved and the texture becomes homogeneous. Next, we wash the eggs under warm running water and continuing to mix the oil, add them one by one to our mass. Mix everything for 2 to 3 minutes and then add the flour mixture in small portions. The dough should turn out smooth, without lumps and thick enough, for convenience, you can knead it with your hands. Then we wrap the dough in food grade plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for 1 - 8 hours.

Step 2: prepare the sesame seeds.

Now go to the sesame seeds. Pour it into a deep plate and fill it with ordinary running water. We wash it with our hands from various kinds of contaminants, if necessary, water can be replaced, and using a sieve we release sesame from unnecessary liquid. Next, preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius, baking pan covered with baking paper and spread the washed sesame seeds. Dry it a few minutes until a light golden color. And helping ourselves with the oven mitts, we take the baking sheet out of the oven. Gently pour hot sesame into a separate plate. We wait a couple of minutes for it to cool and add honey and water to it. Mix thoroughly until honey covers the whole sesame.

Step 3: prepare the nuts.

The nuts for our recipe must be peeled, so if necessary, free them from the shell, wash and dry in the oven or in a pan. Then, again, if desired, chop the nuts with a knife on a cutting board or leave them whole. The prepared nuts are transferred to a separate plate.

Step 4: form a barazek.

With the passage of time, we take out the dough from the refrigerator and remove the cling film. Then plucking from the total mass, we form small balls with a diameter of about 3 centimeters. From this volume of dough, you should get about 28 balls. In order to make it more convenient to work, we will prepare a baking sheet, namely, cover it with baking paper. Now we take one ball, dip it in a plate with nuts and immediately after that we give it a flat cookie shape. We lower the even side into a plate with honey sesame seeds and, having slightly pressed, we get a barazek. We place cookies on a baking sheet and form in the same way, all other test balls. The distance between the cookies should be at least 2 centimeter.

Step 5: bake Arabic cookies.

In preheated oven until 180 degrees Celsius remove the baking tray with cookies. Bake it until fully cooked for 15 - 20 minutes or until they are covered with a delicious crust. We take the finished dish out of the oven using kitchen oven mitts and leave it to cool to room temperature for a while.

Step 6: serve the barazek arabic cookies.

We put the cooled cookies on a beautiful plate and you can serve the dish to the dessert table or for an afternoon snack. As a drink, fragrant tea, coffee or warm milk for children is suitable. Enjoy your meal!
